Fudge The Cat - The Full Story

How it all began
Fudge came to the owners in January 2023 after her previous owner could not manage looking after her and it was a mutual agreement that Fudge would be handed over and she had been with us since then.
Fudge was a caring and affectionate cat and she really loved her food and milk, She was not afraid to get into trouble, for example she once got under the kitchen units and was very nearly stuck.
Fudges adventure
Not too long after becoming a part of the family she started going out and doing her own thing during the day and this one time she spent a full 48 hours away from home to great concern the owners.
Fudge according to her previous owners was not an outdoor cat and had never shown any interest in going out so this was completely out of character.
However she did come back but little did we know she held a suprise for us.
The September 2023 Suprise
In the early hours of September 15th 2023 Fudge went into her cat box with her blanket, curled up and gave birth to four little bundles of furr. And raised all of them really well, Feeding, cleaning and doing everything she can for them.
Fudge was proactive in teaching her kittens things like using the litter tray and where the basics are. She would even get involved when the kittens were older and started play fighting with each other and it got a bit to rough.
The Accident
On the 22nd October 2023 Fudge was lay on the bed with the owners surrounded by her four very young kittens, All four kittens rushed Fudge for feeding and Fudge rolled onto her side to allow her kittens to feed but very sadly fell off the side of the bed causing injury.
Fudge was quickly seen by out of hours emergency vets at the PDSA in Oldbury, UK. Fudge stayed with vets for a total of 46 hours and 37 minutes before the very sad news came that she would not recover.
The owners with Fudges kittens attended the PDSA to make the sad choice to put her down out of concerns for welfare and suffering, from advanced advice by senior vets.
It later came out that Fudge had shattered her spine in three places, And from reviewing CCTV she landed on her back, with her back arched in a U shape.
Fudge was put to sleep with her owners and kittens around her and passed peacefully.
